Parts and supplies stores rely on well-trained customer service reps that know a lot about computer hardware and software, but they also need designers that can create unique screens, keyboards, motherboards, and external hard drives. These designers usually have advanced degrees in subjects like engineering and programming. Some computer parts wholesalers employ their own designers to make unique PC accessories, hardware, and software. Others, however, purchase bulk orders from design companies. They then sell the items to consumers.

Even though there is a significant difference between the levels of education that customer services reps and designers have for their jobs, they both fulfill important positions within their companies. Designers can create new products, but consumers need customer service reps to explain how the products function.
